Aroma Diffuser DIY Workshop
Date: 17 June 2026 (Wed)
Time: 10:30 am - 11:30 am; 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Venue: W401, 4/F Block W, Industrial Centre

Technology Overview
1. 3D Printing
Role in the workshop: Creates the custom mold needed for the vacuum forming step.
How it works: A 3D printer builds objects layer by layer from the bottom up. It takes a digital 3D design, melts a plastic filament, and precisely squeezes it through a tiny nozzle to form a solid, durable mold.
2. Vacuum Forming
Role in the workshop: Forms the main outer shell and shape of the diffuser.
How it works: A sheet of plastic is heated until it becomes soft and rubbery. It is then stretched over the 3D-printed mold, and a powerful vacuum sucks all the air out. The plastic instantly snaps tightly around the mold, cooling into a rigid, hollow shape.
3. Hydro Dipping (Water Transfer Printing)
Role in the workshop: Creates the beautiful color patterns on the diffuser shell.
How it works: A special printed film with a pattern is floated on water and activated into liquid ink. When the diffuser shell is slowly dipped into the water, the water pressure forces the ink to wrap perfectly around every curve and corner, leaving a stunning design.
4. Laser Cutting
Role in the workshop: Precision-cuts the sturdy base that holds the diffuser together.
How it works: This machine uses a highly concentrated, computer-controlled beam of light (a laser) to cut through flat sheets of material like acrylic or wood. It cuts with absolute precision, making perfect slots and holes for the diffuser's components.
